WHO AM I?
I am a woman who is married and who has a demanding job. For many years, I have been searching through website after website, looking for recipes that I can make for my family that is easy enough with affordable, easy to locate/purchase ingredients, and that won’t be too time consuming (1 hour maximum to prepare and cook the dish). I think that a lot of women and men can relate to the headache I sometimes get trying to think of what to cook for the next meal.. not to mention the lack of time I have to prepare it after a busy day at the office. Also, it gets a little confusing to keep track of the recipes that work and those that don’t.
WHY COOK???
You might say that I’ve made preparing and cooking food seem like a chore. However, it truly is the reality for most working individuals. Why cook when you can just buy from the nearest restaurant or convenient store or have something delivered? Yes, this is true.. however, based on experience, the benefits of cooking at home are:
- You save money! $$$$$!!!! This is a very important reason! It is much much cheaper to cook than to eat out or have something delivered. It is much cheaper to cook your lunch and bring it to work with you. This is always the case because unlike with restaurants who have to take into account the rent expense, salaries, utilities, etc., you only have to consider the cost of the ingredients itself (2 cloves of garlic, half an onion, a tbsp of olive oil, etc.) making the total cost of whatever you created a whole lot cheaper.
- You eat healthier – no unwanted chemicals or MSG. You know exactly what has gone into the dish. Also, you handled the food, so you know that what you cooked is clean.
- You can experiment – You can stick to the recipe or you can mix and match according to your taste or (as what usually happens) what is available in the fridge.
WHY AM I DOING THIS???
I created this blog for two simple reasons:
- To keep an organized record of recipes of dishes that are good and that I want to recreate.
- To share these recipes with the world and hopefully lessen a few other men/women’s headaches when it comes to cooking and preparing dishes for themselves and the people they love.
One more thing…. I created this blog as a tribute to my Mom… she was my Superwoman! I have no idea how she did it but she was able to juggle being a loving wife, a great mother, a businesswoman, and an excellent cook. she had no problem at all trying all sorts of recipes.. and everything she cooked or baked tasted absolutely delicious! Unfortunately, she’s no longer with me. Hopefully, through this blog and by cooking more, I can eventually reach her level of excellence in creating wonderful food… and in that, I hope to make her proud.
For those who visit my page, feel free to try out the recipes. I’ll also try to create menus in the future for both myself and everyone else… to help life get easier in terms of planning meals for the week. We can do this! Happy cooking!
